Good Times (newspaper)

Good Times is Santa Cruz County’s free-circulation weekly newspaper founded by Jay Shore and published in Santa Cruz, California since 1975. Good Times is read by more than 100,000 people in the county, a coastal area that includes Capitola, Rio del Mar, Aptos and Watsonville. It is owned by MainStreet Media Group.
Good Times is Santa Cruz counties community newspaper with features by local writers on news, opinion, entertainment, arts and events. Editorial-based and run in downtown Santa Cruz, the alternative weekly is owned by Main Street Media Group, which publishes twelve papers in California and some magazines.[1] Good Times won an award for General Excellence in the California Newspaper Publishers Association Better Newspaper Contest 2006–2007.[2] In 2008 it won first place for environmental and agricultural reporting.[3]
The newspaper commemorated its 35th anniversary in April 2009 with the largest issue ever detailing the Best of Santa Cruz including features on dining, activities, shopping, professionals, nightlife, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and more.
